AI Errors
Why Does AI Say “Something Went Wrong”?
What generic AI error messages usually mean and how to respond without making the problem worse.
The common situation
A vague message appears: “Something went wrong,” “There was an error,” or “Please try again.” The message does not tell you whether the issue is your prompt, your account, the browser, or the AI service.
Common reasons this happens
- The service may have hit a temporary server error.
- Your connection may have dropped while the answer was being generated.
- A browser extension, blocked script, VPN, or strict privacy setting may interfere with the page.
- The request may involve a tool or file that failed to load.
- The prompt may be very long, include unsupported file types, or ask for too many tasks at once.
What you can try safely
- Try one short, simple prompt to see whether the service still works.
- Check whether the problem happens in another browser or private window.
- Turn off browser extensions temporarily if the page itself seems broken.
- Save your prompt elsewhere before refreshing.
- Do not keep clicking submit rapidly; wait and retry calmly.
Technical check: save your work, test a short harmless request in a fresh chat, and check the provider’s official status page before changing account settings.
What this does not necessarily mean
A generic error is not the same thing as a policy refusal. It often means the product failed to complete the request for technical reasons.
When official support is the right path
If the same account keeps producing errors after basic checks, use the official support path for that AI provider.
